Best Travel Apps of 2019

With technology, we can take our travel even further. From finding cheap flights to navigating a new city to understanding a foreign language, travel apps have made life as a traveler much easier. If you’re looking for some travel hacks that will make your next trip a breeze, check out my list of the best travel apps of 2019.

Skyscanner
Looking for flight deals? Search for the best deals on Skyscanner. I love that you can choose to see the cheapest destinations based on a certain date or month. You can also find out which dates are cheapest to fly for a destination you have in mind. If you have the flexibility you can really save a lot on a flight. Want to know how to find the best flight deals? Check out my guide on how to book cheap flights.
iOS

Maps.Me
Don’t have data while traveling? Download the Maps.Me app, then download the destination or destinations you’ll be visiting while you have WiFi. You can mark locations of interest and get directions all without WiFi or data.
iOS | Android

Citymapper
If you DO have data, then I suggest Citymapper because it also gives you real-time public transit information. It will even let you know which exit to use when leaving a metro station.
iOS | Android

Splitwise
Doing a group trip with friends? You can easily create a group and keep track of all expenses on Splitwise. You then can split the bill and settle up at the end of the trip.
iOS | Android

XE Currency
Do you have trouble with conversion rates? Always know exactly how much something costs with XW Currency. No need to overpay for a 10-minute cab ride!
iOS | Android

Google Translate
Lost in translation? With the Google Translate app, you can easily translate by typing a phrase or speaking. See a sign in a foreign text? Google Translate will tell you what it says in your language.
iOS | Android

Clock
You know that Clock app that’s already on your phone? Slide to the World Clock and add your destination. You’ll be able to see what time it is at your home location and your destination, and also what the difference is.

LoungeBuddy
Have a long layover? Get the info on the lounges available to you based on your information and you can purchase lounge passes starting at $25.
iOS | Android

Google Trips
It saves your flight information, your trip reservations (hotels, rental car, etc), and gives you recommendations for your itinerary. If you’ve saved places to your Google Map, it pulls that up for you too!
iOS | Android

App in the Air

It’s like a personal travel assistant in your pocket. You have access to realtime flight information, your loyalty programs are in one place, and you can set up automatic checkin. There’s a fee for this app but if you’re a frequent traveler it’s so worth it. Oh, and it has a cool feature that keeps travel of how many miles you’ve flown.
iOS | Android

PackPoint
Not sure what to take on your trip? Let PackPoint help you! Just punch in what kind of trip it is, where you’re going, when, how many days, and it comes up with a full list. This is a helpful tool for people who feel like they’re always forgetting something.
iOS | Android

Trail Wallet
Trail Wallet is a travel expense app where you can set a budget for a day, week or month, and easily add expenses as you go. If you need to keep travel of your expenses, like following a budget, or just like to see how much you’re spending then this app is for you.
iOS

Dayuse
Have a layover or in a stopover city with a few hours and need to freshen up, need a nap, or want to use hotel amenities like a gym, pool, or business center? Dayuse allows you to check into a hotel room for a day for a fraction of the cost of an overnight visit.
iOS | Android

Roadtrippers
Looking for a road trip app? If you’re planning a road trip within the U.S. use Roadtrippers. Route your trip and get info on fun and quirky road trip stops, restaurants, and more!
