By opting to use sustainable travel products, alternative methods of transportation when traveling, and even considering slow travel we can help make a difference. While it’s sustainable to use what you have already if you’re in the market for items to upgrade your travel check out these eco friendly travel products for your next trip!
Eco Friendly Travel Products for Your Next Trip
I partnered with Got Bag, a brand that turns ocean plastic into new products. They sent me their rolltop backpack and I have recently tested it out during my recent travels. All opinions are my own. Eco Friendly Travel Backpacks and Bags
Topping off the list is the Rolltop Backpack from Got Bag. Got Bag is an innovative brand that turns plastic from the ocean into something new. They have a network of 2,000 fishermen who collects ocean plastic as a by-catch, which is carefully separated, cleaned, then processed.
What I love about this backpack and why it’s great for travel is because you can fit so much inside of it. It has an adjustable volume of 23-30 liters so it goes from a casual daypack to a backpack that can double as a weekender just with the rolltop feature. The straps are comfortable and durable, and the back is padded. It also comes with a detachable laptop sleeve. When you purchase the Got Bag Rolltop Backpack you help recover 7.7 pounds of plastic from the ocean!
Eco Friendly Water Bottle for Travel
Having a water bottle while traveling makes a huge impact. By traveling with a reusable water bottle you’re avoiding so much unnecessary plastic. Insulated water bottles make a big difference since they help keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot. My favorite is Hydro Flask standard mouth water bottle. They come in a variety of sizes however I do find the 24 oz – 32 oz Hydro Flask are the best to travel with. This of course depends on your preference.
Travel Utensils
Traveling with utensils is another way to avoid single-use plastic. While you probably won’t need to use these if you’re dining inside a restaurant, you might use them when you’re eating street food or grabbing a to-go meal.
You can get these bamboo travel utensils that some as a set with a fork, knife, spoon, straw, and more! Packing this in your daypack or handbag is one of the best sustainable travel tips.
Eco Friendly Shampoo and Conditioner Bar
If you haven’t made the switch to shampoo and conditioner bars definitely try them out. While it might take a couple of brands to try out before you’re completely satisfied it is well worth it. Shampoo and conditioner bars not only are eco friendly because they don’t have plastic packaging but they’re also budget friendly. Most bars will give you more uses than a typical bottle.
My wavy-curly (and sometimes frizzy) hair does well with Ethique Hair Shampoo Bar for Frizzy Hair, Frizz Wrangler. I’ve used serval brands and this is what worked best for me. As for a conditioner bar, I love HiBAR conditioner bar MOISTURIZE for dry or damaged hair.
Reusable Shopping Bag
Last, I’d like to end this list with a reusable shopping bag. We all have them but may not even think to pack them in our travel bag. When you’re out exploring for the day you might pick up a souvenir or even some snacks and you can easily place them in your reusable bag. This is an item that doesn’t take up much room, is super light, and can help reduce lots of single-use plastic waste.
I hope this list helps you when packing for your next trip. Thank you for considering packing these eco friendly travel products. If you want more sustainable travel tips check out Oh My! Travel Podcast’s interview with zero-waste traveler, Monica Rosquillas. Enjoy your next trip!
