Wildflowers in Anza Borrego typically begin to bloom between late February and early March, continuing through April. The timing and intensity of the bloom depend on rainfall during the winter months. A wet season increases the chances of a more vibrant bloom.

Henderson Canyon Road
One of the most accessible spots to see wildflowers is along Henderson Canyon Road. This is one of the more popular viewing spots and you find lots of sand verbena, desert sunflowers, and dune primrose.
Coyote Canyon
Coyote Canyon is another popular area for wildflower blooms. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for access deeper into the canyon but there is a lot you can see just short walk from the small parking area. This area is higher in elevation and typically blooms around mid-March.
Galleta Meadows
Galleta Meadows is best known for its large-scale metal sculptures by artist Ricardo Breceda. This area also has patches of wildflowers scattered among the artwork. The area around “Galleta Meadows – Prospector and his horse” is a great spot for wildflower blooms.

Cactus Loop Trail
The Cactus Loop Trail is a short 0.7-mile hike with seasonal cacti in bloom and scenic desert views.
Calcite Mine Trail
