The city of Seville is located in Andalusia, a region in the south of Spain. It’s the birthplace of Flamenco and is also famous for some of its monuments such as the Real Alcázar and Plaza de España. Seville is captivating with its beauty and lifestyle. The year-round moderate weather also makes it very welcoming. Seville is a gorgeous city and you can definitely take in the views while sipping on sangria or a cocktail at one of the many rooftop bars in the city. The Gourmet Experience at El Cortez Inglés is a go-to for a casual rooftop experience. Items are a fair price and it’s a relaxed atmosphere. If you’re looking for a more elevated experience The Terrace at Hotel Inglaterra is for you. It’s one of the best rooftop bars in Seville and the views are amazing.

See a Flamenco Performance

One of the top things to do in Seville at night is to go see a Flamenco performance. Flamenco started in Seville and if you’re going to watch a Flamenco perforation in Spain definitely do it in Seville. If you’re looking for a Flamenco bar Seville, Spain check out La Carboneria. It is a fun and affordable place to watch a performance. The atmosphere is laid back and very friendly. Arrive early to grab a table. You can order sangria and some causal tapas. If you’re looking for a more formal dinner show experience then opt for Tablao Flamenco Los Gallos.

Check of the Architecture of the Metropol Parasol (Las Setas)

One of the most interesting structures in Seville is the Metropol Parasol, also known as Las Setas. There is a charge of €5 to go up to the viewpoint. From there you get a 360 view of the city. This is a fun activity to do any time of day as the view never disappoints.

Relive History at Real Alcázar de Sevilla

The Real Alcázar de Sevilla is the royal palace of Seville. It is a registered UNESCO site and one of the main attractions of Seville. The grounds are extensive and include beautiful gardens. Take your time to stroll the site and make a site to book tickets in advance to avoid the long queue. If you are interested in hearing about history definitely sign up for a guided tour. As mentioned, the grounds are extensive so one can easily get overwhelmed.

Admire the Catedral de Sevilla and La Giralda Tower

The Catedral de Sevilla is a stunning structure that is a staple in Seville. Whether you decide to enter the cathedral for a cultural visit or admire it from the outside you can’t go wrong. You can also opt to visit La Giralda, the bell tower of the Cathedral, which was built as the minaret for the Great Mosque of Seville during the Almohad dynasty.

Shop Local at Mercado de Artesania el Postigo

El Postigo is a co-op featuring goods from local artisans. Shop handmade products such as jewelry, fashion accessories, textile leather, traditional ceramics, enamel mosaics, and more. This is a great place to take home something unique.

Check out the View from Torre del Oro

The Torre del Oro is a tower situated on the left bank of the Guadalquivir river. It is 36 meters in height and offers a great view of the river and city.

Marvel in Awe at Plaza de España

One of the best things to do in Seville is to visit the Plaza de España. It was built in 1929 for the Ibero-American Expo. This famous structure has been seen in films such as “Lawrence of Arabia” and Episode II of “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones”. The plaza is frequented by both locals and tourists. It’s a great place to take a stroll, see Flamenco dancers in the park, or even ride one of the rowboats. It’s one of the most Instagrammable places in Seville so be sure to arrive early and bring your camera.

Stroll Maria Luisa Park

If you’re looking for some things to do in Seville, Spain for free then check out Maria Luisa Park. The park is steps away from the famous Plaza de España and is a beautiful place to relax ad be in nature. If you want to escape the city for a bit this huge park is the place to do it. It’s also picturesque so be sure to bring your camera.

Check out the Colorful Neighborhood of Triana

Just across the river is the neighborhood of Triana. On Calle Betis, you can see colorful buildings that are somewhat reminiscent of Nyhavn in Copenhagen. The neighborhood is not only beautiful but historic. The origins go back to the Tartessian era.

Go on a Tapas Crawl

There are so many tapas bars in Seville and so many different dishes to try that the options are endless. One of my favorite places is Bodega Santa Cruz Las Columnas. It’s a popular spot amongst tourists and locals so it will be crowded but the service is fast. Order at the bar and the servers keep your tab open with a chalk system. They’ll tally your order and write it in chalk, it’s an old school system and cool to see.

Where to Stay in Seville

Budget/Hostel

If you’re looking for an affordable option Oasis Backpackers Palace and Oasis Backpackers Hostel are great choices. The Palace offers private rooms as well as dorms and the Hostel is dorms only. And they both have rooftop pools! I stayed at Oasis Backpackers Hostel and had a great time. The Hostel is more central but the Palace was a bit closer to the train station.

Moderate

If you’re looking for a modern apartment Welldone Metropol is for you. It features stunning views of the Metropol Parasol and is located in the city center. If you’re looking for something more traditional opt for H10 Corregidor Boutique Hotel. And if you NEED a rooftop pool with a view of the cathedral and La Giralda tower then book a stay at Joya del Casco Boutique Hotel.

Premium

If you’re looking to do Seville is style then opt to stay at Hotel Casa Del Poeta. It’s romantic and has a historic yet sleek look. Another great option is Hotel Fernando III which has a killer rooftop view and city views. And if you want to stay in an 18th-century Andalusian house then Casas de Santa Cruz is the place. It’s absolutely beautiful and decorated with typical Moorish-style tiles.
