Hola!ย Iโm Jeanine Romo, a travel content creator, blogger, and podcast co-host ofย Oh My! Travel Podcast. I love off-the-beaten-path destinations, road trips, the outdoors, and bucket list adventures. I help over 1 million people each month travel more adventurously through my destination guides, and product recommendations, and by giving helpful advice on doing things outside their comfort zone.
ย I love the outdoors and exploring natural landscapes because the world is a beautiful place and I want to experience it. Iโve traveled to 46 different countries so far.ย
I like pushing my limits and living just a bit closer to the edge because itโs more fun on the other side of your comfort zone. I’m a U.S. National Parks junkie and would love to visit them all. I had always been a lover of the outdoors and my trip to Peru and hiking the Inca trailย lead me into wanting to explore more.ย
So naturally, I wanted to travel even more because most people regret the things they didnโt do, and travel (or traveling more) can be one of those things. I would have loved to have studied abroad when I was getting my degree. But even though I didnโt get to do that I found that it is never too late to do what you want to do. Sure, timing is something that can get in the way and excuses are easy to make but I have vowed to stop making excuses and start making things happen. Sometimes you just got to go for it, like I did when I decided to take a dip in the 40ยฐF water of Jackson Lake at Grand Teton National Park.ย ย
I hope my blog inspires you to do more of what you want to do. I have helpful travel tips and recommendations on my blog. I write from my first-hand experiences and always keep it real. Honesty is key because travel can be stressful but I want to make it fun and easy for anyone reading my posts.
Why do you travel solo? Donโt you get lonely?
I donโt travel solo all the time but I do it about 40% of the time because you can’t wait around for someone to go with you. I enjoy traveling solo because it gives me so much flexibility and time to really focus on myself.
It can be intimating at first and there may be times when you feel so alone (I rarely feel lonely but I have definitely been alone). In the end, youโre never really alone when youโre traveling because there are almost always people around. Iโve met amazing people along the way that I still stay in touch with. You never know whatโs going to happen until you do it.
How do you afford to travel?
Earlier in my travel journey, I learned to prioritize and spend more on experiences rather than material objects. I have since created a business as a full-time content creator so travel is a huge part of my job. Before that, I saved my money, and when Iโm traveling, I did some remote freelance work.
What are my favorite places/cities youโve visited?
Some of my favorite places Iโve traveled to are Cusco and Machu Picchu in Peru, Ireland and Northern Ireland, Montenegro, Havasupai in Arizona, Italy (literally every city Iโve been to in Italy has been amazing), Bled in Slovenia, Laguna de Apoyo in Nicaragua, Pai in Thailand, Helsinki and Hanko in Finland, San Sebastian in Spain, and of course, the motherland, Mexico. My home state of California is also one of my favorite places and somewhere that I continuously feature in my content. I love traveling the world but I also love exploring my beautiful state and sharing it with you.
In case you want to know more about meโฆ
I was born and raised in the beautiful state of California. I may be biased but itโs my favorite state in the United States. Iโm of Mexican descent and proud of my heritage. I grew up in a modest home in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Iโm the oldest and the only girl in the family. Yup, life was interesting growing up with all boys. It makes sense why Iโm โgirlyโ yet adventurous.ย
I graduated from Cal State University, Los Angeles with a bachelors of arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. I worked in the fashion industry for many years and ran my own businesses. Travel was always something I wanted to do more of but I didnโt make as much time for it. That changed over the last several years.
I used to think that you had to be rich to travel but I realized that wasnโt the case, I just had to prioritize my life. You donโt have to give up things that are important to you to travel. Iโm not here to tell you that itโs simple to prioritize, everyone has a different story, commitments, and responsibilities. Heck, it has taken me many years to semi-figure things out (Iโm still learning as we all should continue to learn).
Thanks for learning more about me. I hope you enjoy following my adventures.
xo,
Jeanine Romo
