Surrounded by the Topatopa Mountains, it’s ideal for travelers who love adventure and nature, with numerous hiking trails, swimming holes, and stunning viewpoints. If you’re looking for some relaxation, head to the spa at Ojai Valley Inn. And for a glass of wine, check out the local tasting rooms and wineries. Because of its warm climate, Ojai is a year-round destination, but spring and fall are especially ideal. In the spring, the valley comes alive with wildflowers and Ojai Pixie Tangerines (a tangerine only grown in this area), celebrated each April during Ojai Pixie Month. Fall brings crisp mornings and warm afternoons, making it a perfect time to enjoy Ojai hikes and outdoor activities.

Winter in Ojai is generally mild and a quieter time to visit. And the summer offers longer days, but the weather is hot during the peak of summer. However it is still a great time to lounge by the pool, enjoy shaded cafes, or book a spa day!

How to Get to Ojai, CA

By Air: The closest and most convenient airport is Santa Barbara Airport (SBA), about a 45-minute drive away. And the closest major airport is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), is about a 90-minute to 2-hour drive depending on traffic. Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) is also an option and is about an hour and 20 minutes away. Renting a car is highly recommended if flying in.

By Car: Ojai is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Los Angeles (depending on where in the city), 45 minutes from Santa Barbara, and 30 minutes from Ventura. Driving is the easiest and most flexible option. 

By Train and Bus: You can take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner to Ventura (a 2-to 2-hour ride from LA’s Union Station). From there, catch the local Route 16 bus for the 30-minute ride into town.

Day Trips and Nearby Attractions

Sunburst Railbikes (Santa Paula)
About 30 minutes from Ojai, this unique adventure lets you pedal along historic train tracks through citrus and avocado groves.

Ventura
Just 30 minutes away, the seaside city of Ventura offers beautiful beaches, surfing, and a walkable downtown filled with shops, restaurants, and breweries. The Ventura Pier and promenade are perfect for a coastal stroll, and Channel Islands National Park is accessible by boat from Ventura Harbor.

Santa Barbara

Just a 45-minute drive from Ojai is beautiful Santa Barbara. Known for its Spanish-style architecture, wine scene, and beaches, it’s a must-visit for travelers. Stroll along State Street, explore the Funk Zone, or head to the historic Santa Barbara Mission.
